How the Charities work for the parish today….
The Estate Charity: registration 255343
The Estate Charity is comprised of five bequests made to the Parish of Bardwell, and it is where the Bardwell Charities began in 1442.
This Charity’s main income is from lands held by the Official Custodian for Charities, with additional income from investments and wayleaves. The Trustees apply the income in accordance with the deed dated 6th November 1984, which requires that:
Subject to the payment of all the expenses the Trustees shall divide the annual income into three equal parts and shall pay one such part to the:
1, Bardwell Charities Education Foundation
2, Church Charity at Bardwell
3, Relief in Need Charity
The Estate Charity has no other purpose, and does not make individual grants.
1, Bardwell Charities Educational Foundation
The income is solely from the one third share of the Estate Charity’s nett income, and the Trustees apply the income in accordance with the deed dated 6th November 1984, by making grants for:
The advancement of the education of pupils of public elementary schools, who are resident in the beneficial area (the parish of Bardwell, Suffolk)

2, Church Charity at Bardwell
The income is solely from the one third share of the Estate Charity’s nett income, and the Trustees apply the income in accordance with the deed dated 6th November 1984. The funds are for the fabric of the Church, and are held in a separate account until requested by the Church Wardens.
The Church Charity at Bardwell has no other purpose, and does not make individual grants.
3, Relief in Need Charity: registration 232376
The Relief in Need Charity is comprised of four Charities. It has income and expenses of its own, and in addition it receives one third share from the Estate Charity each year. The Trustees apply the income in accordance with the deed dated 6th November 1984, by making grants:
To relieve either generally or individually persons resident in the parish of Bardwell, Suffolk, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress.

Littlemore Green
Littlemore Green is owned by the Bardwell Charities, and managed by the Trustees as part of the Relief in Need Charity. It is a much-loved part of the Bardwell landscape, and currently hosts an annual fair, and the popular “Cars on Bardwell Green” event.
The Green is available for hire, but prior consent from the Trustees is required and a fee may be charged. The Trustees may, at their discretion, grant a concession to certain non-profit making Bardwell organisations. To obtain consent, a booking form must be completed and returned.
